Head of Legal - Thailand

Purpose of Role

The successful candidate will be part of the Global Legal Leadership Team and will partner with our senior legal management on matters relating to the development our legal functions in Thailand.  Your key responsibilities are to ensure that the local activities are well managed from the legal perspective. The position reports directly to the International General Counsel.

Your Role 

  1. Regional Lead
  • Member of the Global Legal Leadership Team and a member of APAC Leadership Team
  • Directing internal and external resource to accomplish management of legal issues
  • Responsible for day to day management of all contracts, legal and corporate legal team members in territory le for all contracts, legal, and corporate for Thailand
  1. Risk Management & Compliance
  • Responsible for assessing and modelling the legal risk environment in the country and planning appropriate mitigating actions with the country manager  and business leads
  • Compilation and delivery of legal action plans for all territories in region
  • Works closely with international legal team
  1. Litigation & External Stakeholders
  • Experience in managing IP litigation would be highly advantageous
  • Strong commercial risk assessment skills, with a clear understanding of where to draw the line between acceptable risk and behaviour that is unacceptable; plus, the strength of character to ensure the business is advised clearly on its obligations
  1. Commercial Business Partner
  • Understand the business priorities and be central to business discussions and decisions
  • Translate external legal advice into commercial business language
  • Establish strong relations with partners internal and external
  1. Projects
  • Ensure legal support is provided on key projects through local market legal counsel
  • Represent legal on significant business change projects
  • Develop and strengthen relationship with the governing authorities
  1. Leadership & Talent
  • LL.B or LL.M from recognised university
  • Minimum 8- 10  years of experience working in international law firm or as an in-house legal counsel
  • Qualified lawyer with relevant post qualification experience
  • Work with direct reports to maximise their potential
  • Skilled in building key stakeholder relationships and with business partners
